Heartmate II vs Heartware

My father (59) will undergo LVAd implantation in less than two weeks. He has been given the option of either the heartmate II or the heartware Hvad. We really dont know what to do. The heartmate batteries appear to last longer before requiring a change but the heartware device is smaller and doesnt require a surgical "pocket"- seems like this might make recovery easier. Any thoughts on this? Which would you choose given the choice?

If he has a good chance at a transplant soon, either will do. Chances for transplantation mostly depend on which region you live in and his blood type. See this same question answered here: http://www.texasheart.org/HIC/HeartDoctor/answer_1319.cfm Consider which VAD his medical team has the most experience with.

I am not the right person to give you advice on this. But what I can offer you is a prayer. I will pray that whatever you've decided upon, I hope it will be a successful operation. I am praying not only for your father but the whole family as well. I know this ordeal is hard but trust in Him and everything will turn out in its place. As I pray for you I am also hoping that this site https://books.pronoun.com/conquer-essay-phobia-the-perfect-formula-for-a-good-grade/ can give me guidance on how to make good in my writing.
