LVAD dressing items

I have been imparted with HVAD (Heartware Ventricular Assist Device) 2 months before. I am based in India and am the first one to get this device in whole of India (may be in Asia too). So i am finding difficult in getting the necessary dressing materials for doing the every dressing on my exit site. Please let me know the most cost effective dressing materials for handling every day dressing.

Thanks again,

Satish

I personally get all of my dressing kits supplied by the hospital, but i belong to a group on face book where many of the other people have to buy their dressings, etc. It may be in your interest to join face book in order to converse with these people, the name of the site is Lvad Conversations, there is also a website which has a portal to enter the face book site, it is www.lvadconversations.net. Congratulations on being the first person on your side of the world to receive this wonderful machine.

My husband's site is still draining six months post surgery but all is well and it is deemed normal. That said, we use basic dressing materials such as drain sponges, cover sponges, medipore tape, betadine swabs etc. I found I can purchase those items from Amazon.com at a more competitive price than what is offered through the hospital referrals to Walgreens etc. Good luck!
