Acute Nausea

My husband had his LVAD implanted on December 19, 2013. He has had horrible nausea and dry heaves since the implantation. He is healing well and the LVAD is working properly but the nausea is overwhelming. His medical team has tweaked his medications but seems to have no idea why he is experiencing the nausea. It is particularly noticeable when he is walking or exerting himself. Anyone else have this experience?

There is definitely something very wrong there. I'd keep badgering your team to find out what the story is, i would suspect medications. also try to rule out things that are not prescribed, it took me a while, but i found out that i was having a reaction to caffeine. just appeared out of nowhere, so keep an open mind to everything.

Hi, I just read your post. My husband had his LVAD implanted back in 2014. For approximately the past 6 months, he has been complaining about the driveline. He can feel it in the sternum area. He has experienced a great deal of discomfort in the area. He is beginning to wonder if the pressure/placement is causing the nausea? One doctor agreed with the placement (line near the surface) after palpating the area-but would not confirm the cause-effect theory. My question is whether or not any other caregiver's are taking care of someone who either complains of persistent nausea and/or discomfort in the chest where the driveline/LVAD is placed?
