Cardiac arrest after LVAD surgery

My husband had a jarvik 2000 implanted on 9-17-14. Still in CICU on 9-27-14 due to breathing problems, he had a GI bleed and went into cardiac arrest. He was intubated and placed on ventilator and started on therapy to cool his body for 24 hrs and then slowly warm it. Has anyone had this type of problem and what was the outcome? My husband has not yet awakened and the 1st cat scan was negative with more cat scans in the next few days. The odd thing is that the docs didn't want him to get the heartmate 2 because he had previous GI bleed from blood thinners.
