Apart from being mistaken for a terrorist (I prefer to wear the 'GO-GEAR' vest), living with the HEARTMATE 11 has been infinately more comfortable than living with oedema. Since being diagnosed with heart failure, the run-up to having my LVAD implanted has been traumatic at times, and interesting on occasion. My carer (my wife) might not agree with my description of events. I have to admit that the survival statistics for LVAD recipients in the UK frightened the life out of me. I now look forward to the next chapter in my life - Transplant.
