I've had my device for 3 years and the past couple of months, the skin under the bandage and the foley anchor has started to itch, but I don't know from what. I don't know if it's the Tegraderm, the cloraprep which my doctor said to switch to alcohol to clean the area, or the skin prep solution.

Today, I took my first shower since my LVAD was implanted 6 1/2 months ago. It was absolute heaven. I was very nervous but it was actually easier than I expected. It was a little time consuming but I am sure that once I get a routine down it will become old hat.

This may not be the forum for this question, but who better to answer my questions than those living with an LVAD and the people who care for them.

Today is my husband, Jerry's 2nd LVAD Birthday. I call it a Birthday instead of an anniversary since the LVAD gave him life. Although there he has had ups and downs on the past two years, I am so thankful that he has his LVAD.

I have a high heart rate (~115 bpm at rest, and when I do anything over walking 20 metres per day my heart rate goes up and takes some days to return back down to ~115 bpm again), due to this my life is severely limited in what I can do, though I am only 22 years old.

Hi, I am looking for community resources for pediatric patients and their families. Speciffically siblings of a VAD patient. Does anyone know of sibling/family resources for pediatric VAD patients?

After mom had her vad put in on Dec 10 we have been very involved with her care. She is still in hospital with some complications but did spend a few days home and we realized the Vest and the Purse were way to cumbersome and heavy for her. She is 76 and very weak.

This month the MyLVAD Community Spotlight features Angie and Tim. Tim was implanted with an LVAD in his early 30's due to idiopathic (unknown cause) cardiomyopathy. Angie, his wife, not only cared for him but also cared for their three young children and worked to help support their family.
