Hi, I am looking for community resources for pediatric patients and their families. Speciffically siblings of a VAD patient. Does anyone know of sibling/family resources for pediatric VAD patients?

Hello- My 53 year old brother needs an LVAD implant and has no immediate family nearby. Both myself and my other brother do not live close, have full time jobs and families.

My brother just had LVAD surgery on Friday, Oct. 5th and he is still not awake yet. The surgery lasted 9 hours, which was due to complications. We are all beside ourselves wondering what this could be. So far, the test show that he did NOT have a stroke so we don't know what to think.

Myth #1: I can't travel with an LVAD, I need to stay close to my implanting center.

I am 38 years old and I am in stage 3 of HF. Yesterday I was told that I need a transplant but I have to lose 60 pounds first. Meanwhile I need the LVAD. The doctor asked me how bad do I feel? As simple as the question was, it was difficult to answer. I have 3 children ages 16, 14, and 11.

So, my dad may be a candidate for LVAD. He and mom have 10 cats (I know - crazy cat lovers). I am reaching out to you all since none of what we have found talks about interaction with pets. Please help, if you can.

I get my lvad in three weeks. I am both excited and scared. My family is very supportive, and that helps a lot.

Hello. I am new to this site although I have been lurking for some time now. I am 38 and have had a HMII since April 4th of last year. I have been back to work full time since 1 June of last year. I travel about 25% for work and have taken about 15 business trips since last summer.

My dad suffered an anoxic brain injury post cardiac arrest in July 2014 at the age of 57. Following these events, my dad received an LVAD. At almost 2 years later he remains hospitalized as the discharge process is still a challenge.

My 25 year old son was diagnosed with cardio myopothy in November 2011. He had a difribulator installed and was put on meds for his enlarged heart. He took this pretty hard because he lead a healthy life.
