Has anyone been given clearance to drive at work? My husband is back to work but it would help his position if he was able to drive a city vehicle (short distances-no longer than 10 minutes of driving). Our LVAD team and surgeons won't sign off on letting him drive because of liability issues.

Your doctor or clinician may prescribe several different medications and supplements to support your overall health and heart function, and to prevent complications related to the LVAD. It’s very important that you:

I was on a MyLVAD Caretaker call a couple months back and the moderator mentioned the possibility of setting up an online forum where people could give away their extra or not needed dressing supplies. Has anyone seen or heard anything about this?

Dear Nervousnilliei read your posting and I am sad that you have had this rough go of it. and that it continues. Some folks who responded to my original post were pissed that I dare to speak like that. And it can be very tough.

Has anyone seen single dating sites that cater to LVAD patents? If not someone should start one. Think of the advantages. No explanations needed, no hiding your equipment, and you can share batteries if one of you gets low.

My husband has lost his voice since the open heart/LVAD surgery on Feb. 9th, about two weeks ago. Has anyone had this same problem? He will be going to a specialist mid March to see what's wrong. But there are some advantages to having a husband who whispers!

After a massive heart attack at the end of 2008, I was fitted with a Ventrassist LVAD in January 2009 at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, England. Does anyone else anywhere have a Ventrassist still?

We flew down from Seattle. We had no problem going through TSA/security. We did have to unpack our carry ons and put it all in the bins. I think we had six bins with all our stuff:) Disney Land and California adventure it self was a blast.

Please help us evaluate if my father is eligible for an LVAD. He is 88 years old and his heart has an EF of 20%. Medications are not working for the last two weeks and his blood pressure is dangerously low (80/55 or worse). He also has diabetes and multiple blocked arteries.

Tim, HeartMate II since May ?11 I received my LVAD on May 23, 2011. Prior to this, my work had required me to travel throughout the US and the world, usually for 2-3 weeks a month.

My Dad had his LVAD put in on 5/25/17. He seems to have had a new issue every, single, day, of his recovery so far. Hours after the surgery, they said he had bleeding in his chest and had to take him back and open him up a second time (then couldn't find the cause!).

I'm a new to this site and a new caregiver as well. My husband and I love to travel and I was wondering if we will ever be able to travel internationally again. Does anyone one have any suggestions about the best places to travel with an LVAD?

I was just slightly winded, short of breath, even though I hadn't walked far. I had been fit and healthy my entire life so whatever was wrong couldn't be serious, I thought. I was diagnosed with heart failure in October 2009.

My dad received the LVAD right before Thanksgiving due to an enlarged heart that turned into congestive heart failure. His pacemaker or difibulator was not working anymore to keep him going. Everything has been going great up until now. Last week he had a infection which turned out to be Mersa.
